Hasiyanah Shannon Wilson, who goes by «Sassy,» has killer moves on the soccer field.

The sixth-grader, who plays for the Kensington Soccer Club, also plays on other teams in other leagues in older age groups because of her talent.

Sassy, who is African American, played a game in Bucks County last Sunday in the Inter-County Soccer League, but was sidelined because of beads she wore in her braids.

«I really didn’t like the way the ref was acting because he was pointing at me,» said Sassy about the incident. She was the only African American on either team.

«Pointing at people is disrespectful. When he pointed at me, I took that as offensive and I didn’t like that,» said Sassy.

  1. They don’t show how irate the mom was around other kids, also he did let her play and her beads came out again. Rules and regulations are for the safety of others. The rule is obviously there because at some point in time someone got slapped in the eye with beads during a game.

  2. Girl and her mother are 100% wrong and need to back off. This isn't about your race or your right to wear your hair; this is about safety. Stop making everything about YOU. Get over yourselves and respect the rules and the rights of other players.

  3. Some of the above comments are ignorant. This girl was not targeted for being black. Or at least, there is no indication of that. She was targeted because she was wearing an item that was considered dangerous. Under FIFA rules, she should not play. Long fingernails, bobby pins, bracelets (except medical), earrings, etc. are all items that are forbidden. Stop trying to blame somebody who is just enforcing known rules. Better yet, follow the rules, and this is a non-issue. The ref has the ultimately responsibility for player safety. He/She is there for a reason. I would agree with his/her concern.

  4. It's not antiqued rule, pointing at her really? Was it with the right or left hand ? Was he kneeling or standing, facing south, or north? You people find anything to complain about, how bout you just follow the rules, is that to hard, or go and start your own ,no rules league and see how long it takes to play one game….did it ever occur to you that a hair bead it hard plastic, ever step on a Lego barefoot? Try having on in your knee,

  5. i played freshman football back in the day. I had long hair and the coach said to cut it because it was dangerous and could easily get grabbed ripped off my scalp. so… I cut it. no front page story on a major news website in one of the biggest cities in the country for me though.

  6. Black folks: “what do you mean I have to respect officials and actually do what’s safe for others??” ..drives car down shoulder, makes illegal turn from turning lane, does u-turn in the middle of intersection, double parks, swings door into oncoming lane.

  7. Sorry but I am black and put beads in my daughters hair and YES they’re dangerous and swing and hit them in their face. Mom please don’t blow this out of proportion and get him fired for keeping these kids safe.

  8. Here we go with this BS again.. Come you let’s be truthful and call it for what it really is and stop sugar coding it.. Speak up and Stand up for all Athletes and even when they’re more of the outstanding one’s!!! Period 💫✨⚡️🤎🖤👑
    🗣Shame on you Ref…🫣🤡👿☠️👀
