Soccer review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Soccer for the Game Boy developed by Denton Designs and Elite Systems and published by Rage Software.
Experience the excitement of soccer—or football, or whatever—in the palms of your hands! In black and white! Soccer is a game as simple as its name, a straightforward game of football with no frills. Pick a team from 24 countries and take to the pitch in the spirit of international competition! You can play single matches or tournaments, and you can also practice your penalty kicks. Unlike arcade-style takes on the sport, Soccer has no gimmicks or power-ups—it’s just soccer. Or football. Or whatever. Soccer is a single-player game on the original Game Boy.
This video review features video gameplay footage of Soccer for the Game Boy and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.
I might be mistaken, but I got the impression Derek thinks this game is boring.
Best Game Boy Football Game. Loved IT.
Excellenz Game.
This is actually a pretty good game…. A lot better than many on the home consoles.
I can't stand this reviewer for CGR because he always posts stupid reviews. He sounds like he doesn't know anything about this game. A Soccer game actually is a good idea because it's the most popular sport so yeah. This game is good and fun. It's old but still holds up. If you don't like Soccer then don't review a Soccer game you dummy.
yes as a english kid this was a good game. the key to scoring was hold left or right on dpad after u shoot and it curves the ball. scored some class goals with this 🙂
Not only does the title lack creativity, but it's also regionally confused. To think, a game named "Soccer" coming out in an European country.
Is that the gameboy player for gamecube?
For the original gb thiz looked good but now we got better soccer games. Plus the sound in the video ughh very annoying
My ears are bleeding!
I thought this was the best soccer game on the Game Boy.
I played a few FIFAs, Nintendo World Cup and this on the GB and this was the only one I liked, nay, loved. They had a sample of the national anthem of your team if you won, I thought it was cool to hear Amhrán na bhFiann in 8-bit.
It also played really well and had real player names, realistic attributes for them and enough teams to make it interesting.
cough*FIFA*cough
Haha yes, my first game boy game for my red game boy. Use to play this in the car after school when I was 7
Super generic game is super generic.
Maybe that gameboy game was good in it's time. long time ago.
It's weird that football (soccer) is one of the less popular sports in the u.s.a.
But for some reason, the women from there play a really good football. I mean, the Women's Football League, in the United states, is one of the best.
That art was used on the Amiga game, Striker.
That is is a much better name.
This is one of the few sports games I own and like.
I owned this game as a kid. For its time, its was actually quite good fun. I spent hours on it!
Im from England though so maybe it is a "European thing". Needless to say, I wouldnt have spent hours on it if it were that egg shaped football game
This is a port of World Cup Striker, which makes the use of the bland title even stranger.
Most boring gameboy game ever!
Goal! for NES was pretty awesome. Played it often with my dad.
Doesn't look too bad considering it's on the Game Boy tbh, but obviously it's too ambitious of a gameplay mechanic to properly pull off on that system imo..
I'm now waiting for some indie team to come out with a game called "Thing You Can Play." Then Derek can review it.
Wait a second?
This game was a European Release?
And it's called "Soccer"?
Not only were they uncreative, they were also wrong
Best Fifa 15 Review I have seen yet and that is only for the amount of times he said BORING..
Not all Europeans Love Football.
I could have thought of an even better name for this game and it would have been 100% more appropriate, how about this, bear with me…FOOTBALL, eh?
Well, at least this game has a somewhat impressive line-scrolling/scalling for a Game Boy game!
I hate old soccer games.
That crowd sure is rowdy
When I first saw that I be like yay soccer…fuck this..
