2:14 I agree with everything Tom said in the interview save for this portion. There was a draft. Some people signed up willfully. Some did not. 2:21 "They put themselves here, … " Like I said, some did. Some didn't. My grandfather was drafted into the Navy. He didn't want to go. He was 23 and a newlywed. He didn't want to go. He survived, though.

My grandpa fought in the Battle of The Bulge, was shot twice, and became a POW in a Hitler camp. He was one of the lucky ones that came home, physically speaking.
