  1. It blows my mind that Nike didn’t enter the biggest sport in the world until the mid 90s and it took the biggest sporting event to come to their own backyard for them to notice it. I know Americans tend to never look outside their borders but every once in a while I’ll get reminded about it and get surprised again. Better late than never and it clearly paid off.

  2. To me, the whole situation boils down to disloyalty from the German National Team towards their son, adidas. Even if the deal is not the same as offered from Nike or even if they were treated badly, Germany shouldn't forget the identity of its country.

  3. "Redbull and Formula 1"? Bad example, Redbull only joined F1 in the early 2000s. A better example would have been Ferrari. They're the most successful team in the sport and have been around by far the longest amongst all current teams.

  4. Nike will soon realize tht this offer was in no way eonomical. Aidas has worked with Germany long enough to produce a sensible offer. But sure, lets take the copious amounts of money, Nike will fail in Germany like Walmart did.

  5. I dont think this saga is over. The new deal basically starts in 2027 (a very long time from now lol, a lot of things will happen before then)

Adidas could easily have this deal questioned in the legal sphere. Backed by German political bigwigs and other influential people, i wudnt be surprised this nike deal gets terminated before they even have the chance to put the swoosh logo on the classic German shirt.

  6. Something in not being told in the video is the taxes evasion problem that the main directors of the dfb have and the need of fast money to solve it…
Also the lack os patriotism is said because once Nike made the last offer the dfb didn't tell Adidas about it to let them at least make a counter-offer… Which usually is a good and honest business practice in long therms business relationships and that's is actually true
The rest is actually the fact that Nike put a gigantic offer and the dfb took it

  7. All and all, Germany are still gonna be ass.

They can get more money from Nike, or less from adidas. But chances are they’ll get dog walked by “underdogs” for a while.

So who cares? Not like that adidas or nike money is gonna go somewhere to improve their team. Is it gonna magically go into developing youth players? Youth players that’ll take another 4-8 years to develop?

Basically what I’m saying is, this doesn’t change anything since Germany are still ass. And I can say this because it’s funny

  8. German here: I love you took a punch at the whole Quatar PR debacle. I was very confused back then. Some of my coworkers were saying „shame on you“ for watching the games.
I was afraid to say anything because of political backlash.

  9. Oversea fan of Germany, Bayern and Adidas here. I was greatly upset at first
But since i learned that Nike offered much more, i'm all down for this now.
Change – fresh start could be what Germany NT needs most right now (Bayern need this too)

and oh, the recent ruckus about the away trikot didn't help adidas at all.

  10. Great video and great points. But i dont see what the fans would have from a different sponsor. Shirts arent gonna look much better and the sport wont be played differently…. Its surely lucrative for dfb and nike tho
