  1. Also just a side note, sure Hinata served to the back of Kageyama's head but Kageyama has hit Hinata in the face multiple times too at this point lol. I'd say he's just evening out the score 😜

  2. Oikawa is my absolute favorite character, which is a bit of a controvertial opinion because there's a lot of people that don't like him 😅 So many reactors I've watched also don't like him but I think he's a very complex character and I can't wait for you to see more of him in future episodes 🤗

  3. I don’t care about the guys mentioning that the manger is hot or making jokes or whatever. There’s nothing wrong with being attracted to people. To my knowledge it never gets out of hand or takes away from the main story in this show the way it does in some others. What really bothers me in these sports shows is how they seem to just shove random girl characters in that don’t need to be there or have no personality or literally just exist to be a love interest for the MC. I’d rather have no female characters than some of the piss poor examples we have in other shows. I’m looking at you Aoashi.

  4. I must be no better than high-school boys because I find kiyoko so beautiful too 🤣. I love her! I have no problem with how the boys talk about girls in this show because it's always respectful. They're high-school kids, of course they're talking about who they find attractive. You can clearly see the same thing when the girls talk about oikawa 🤣.

  5. the jokes about kiyoko are just highschool stuff but you open the door to a really important discussion about the way anime portrays women in general. if we just take the first time she gets to the gym as an example, the first shots are a close up ass shot followed by a close up boob and neck shot. same for the girl that was talking to teamdaddy in the shcool hallway, first thing we see is an upskirt shot. it's something I tolerate in anime because I love this medium but it irritates me everytime. It has no cinematic purpose but to sexualise female caracters and appeal to the male audience. It's the whole basis of "Fan Service" there is some situations where it's done "tastefully" but it's really something I would love to see less and less of.

  6. Thank you for sharing your persinal experiences and insights, I feel they add so much value to the reaction, and help me see this show in a new light and context. It's really cool to hear that so much of the interactions and emotions depicted have elements of truth to them, like hearing about the way you and your teammates interact during a match and how they show it in the episode. Also, your commentary is very entertaining! I'm kind of dying over here at your animosity toward Tsukki 😂 also fun fact about Yamaguchi, apparently his voice actor, when asked to describe his character on a radio show replied "Likes Tsukki very much". Which isn't his whole personality (Yamaguchi is actually my favorite character in the series, once he gets a chance to develop later on) but totally sums him up at this point of the series!

    Also oh man so many comments during your reaction that totally will come back around sooner or later! Won't point them out because that would verge on spoilery, but definitely a lot of fun and anticipation for future episodes! This series is just…so good, so so good. You really hit the nail on the head, the action of the matches are good but it's the character interactions that really amp up the emotional investment!

  7. When Tanaka says how lovely Shimizu is that's totally fine in my book. He's very respectful and is not being nasty about it and also he knew her for a while, they have rapport. But the other high schoolers come across as yucky to me… a certain yellow jacket the most.

  8. Just FYI, "Aoba Johsai" and "Seijo" mean same school which Oikawa belongs. "Seijo (青城)" is the shortened name of "Aoba Johsai (青葉城西)” so it is like between "Bill" and "William" in English. I know it is complicated but Chinese characters in Japanese language have many ways to read. Especially proper nouns are always hard even for native Japanese since there are no certain rules of how to read.

    BTW you will soon know that Haikyuu has rivals but no villains. The fact makes us so happy.

  9. The character's names on that game plan sheet, first name then last name, are:
    Chikara Ennoshita
    Kei Tsukishima
    Tobio Kageyama
    Daichi Sawamura
    Shoyou Hinata
    Ryuunosuke Tanaka

    WS= Wing Spiker
    MB= Middle Blocker
    S= Setter

    In Japan, most people are called by their last names. If you are using someone's first name, it typically implies that you have a closer, friendlier relationship with them. This is a standard but not a rule, so sometimes people will use the first name of someone but use an honorific to show higher respect. Daichi-san, is an example of that here. Hope that kinda helps lol~
