  1. Soccer AM goes hand in hand with FHM magazine and Maxim. They both appealed to the same demographic. They epitomized the lad culture which emerged from the late 90s and into the noughties. As a 20 something male, living at that golden time in history, i was literally living in heaven. I just didn't realise it at the time.

  2. The soccerette wasn't the downfall, with time everything loses its shine. Its when sky when politically correct thats when everything changed for ever.
But the same community who hates the soccerette all watch only fans now.

  3. Says it all that I’ve only just realised it’s no longer on. It was embarrassing that every week they asked the same question when the answer was Darren Moore ( the only black manager in the league at the time ) yet every week nobody got it correct.

  4. Here's the thing, yes "move with the times" BUT i imagine if Tim, Helen, Socerrette, the bands and the characters were still around this program would STILL be flying.

If folk don't like football or hot birds in a football shirt then turn it off, NO ONE made them go on the show- some did well out of it (the suer hot Natalie Sawyer for one !)

To end with Irony i always thought Tubes was a bit rubbish and not a great part of the show !

  5. 😂
Soccer AM is a bad memory: hungover mornings in other people’s flats, disturbed by a crew of whooping simpletons, the slurping of pro and ex-pro rectums, cobbled-together comedy that made me long for the glory days of Skinner and Baddiel’s old shit. Yet Tim Lovejoy himself, with his fashionably receding hair and voice oddly reminiscent of Rod Hull’s, I remember only as an averagely blokey TV presenter – in fact, one of the few averagely blokey TV presenters to make me clack my tongue in irritation, rather than buff my Gurkha knife. Other than as a namesake of The Simpsons’ self-serving man of the cloth, he barely registered; just a bland, blond ringmaster in a cocky circus of crap. Almost a surprise, then, to find that his new book is not just tedious in the extreme, it is utterly vile.

  6. SKY has managed to fuck up most things that were popular the death knell came when they replaced Le tissier Thompson and Nicholas on the panel even Stelling had enough once he went and that was fucked. Soccer AM was crap and even worse when they had Fenners on a 50 year old man wearing Stone Island

  7. I am going to be self righteous and say that I never liked the soccerettes, for all the reasons mentioned in the video. However, I do think the ‘90s / Loaded’ culture needs to be seen for what it really was. It wasn’t a return to the exploitation of women we’d had in the 70s, quite the opposite, it was born from the empowerment of women, Spice Girls etc, women owning their own sexuality and using it as a power statement and for control over men. Somewhat inevitably though, as men still held the real power, it turned into something which essentially was the same as the old 70s misogyny. But it’s still why you have people arguing at crossed purposes today.

  8. I was late to the show, only started watching in 2019 or so… I really enjoyed most of it, without having anything to compare it too. It was a fun variety show, discoverd a few goods bands and tunes on there. Always enjoyed the skills tests and interviews. I've tried watching that Saturday Social. Not my thing.

  9. 👍 Soccer am is the reason why the England shirt has a star above the 3 Lions.
👎🏽One of the skits they did in the early noughties was about the death of dance music. Clearly one call that Lovejoy got wrong.

  10. What a fucking show and what a tragedy that it was taken down! This world has been taken over by sissy boys and wimps who can in no way manage they’re emotions. It’s pathetic and I can’t wait to get off at my stop to be honest! Take me back to the 80’s and 90’s please driver! All you others from those decades will know what I’m talking about 😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧🇬🇧
