  1. 43:5244:18 : "Age of Apocalypse discussion"

It just popped into my head, and I don't think I am the first to theorize this, but I do hope I'm wrong (unless it's written spectacularly, then I don't care), but I do not think it's going to be the "Age of APOCALYPSE", but it is going to be the "Age of GENISIS", Apocalypse's wife version of that area of x-men….

  2. Ultimate Spider-Man is amazing cannot wait for issue 2 I’m lucky enough to have got three variant covers including j Scott homage im also starting the current run of daredevil although I have all issues and haven’t started it but I’m about to

  3. So you're not gonna mention the biggest story of the week…the "Madame Web" costume reveal? Really? That's how it's gonna be?
Fine. Know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna pretend that I care about this (for comedic effect), and whine impotently in this comment section.
How do you like THEM apples? 🍎🍎🍎

  4. Question unrelated to this episode: in the She-Hulk TV show, am I hallucinating that Daredevil's costume contains purple instead of red? There's a line where She-Hulk says his costume is colored like mustard and ketchup. But EVERY strongly lit pic I've seen of Daredevil has him in yellow and purple (even his posable figure). And I've never seen purple ketchup.
    This is driving me insane.

  5. RE: Ultimate Spider-Man… I'm reserving judgment, but I don't think you can get a decent Spider-Man out of a guy that comes into that kind of power as someone pushing 40. That's a lifetime of compromises, it's priorities like a wife and kids that should 90% of time result in Spider-Man saying "sorry, call 911, I'll be back after the recital/softball game/science fair." Or farming out to the nearest cape because it's date night.

Also, from MJ's perspective, it doesn't really matter what the cosmos wants her husband to be or how supportive she should be, it's a fundamentally sad position for a spouse to be perpetually neglected when their partner's justification is always "well then I guess I'll just let people die." But after 10 years of marriage… yeah, you kinda gotta decide when you want to assume that responsibility.

I'm not saying Hickman won't find a way to sell this new Peter, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I think he would have gotten more mileage out of Miles.

  6. I certainly fell out of this following's nest a near-decade past, though I am still born to make such an artful comparison, one that I think you lot will think that you want to hear: Ultimate J.J.J. and B.P, on account of their wizening brotherhood of steadily thawing support for one another reads like another straight-man-wise-guy, grandfather-ing duo: Stan and Stanley, heir of Dip and Mabel.

  7. To be a counter to Sal's opinion, I think the Nightwing cover works just fine if Damien has been catified from Beast World, I tend to catch up after stuff finishes so I'm not sure. But that meme cover worked for me. If they dedicated a month to "meme covers" like when they do themed alt covers for the whole brand sometimes I'd be less enthused though.

  8. I feel like I may be one of the few people that actually does like the story of 6160 as a whole. I think the maker is a fascinating character and although I think Ultimate Invasion wasnt Hickman at his strongest by any means, I think it had some real gem moments in there. I personally loved Howard as Ironman and his love for Tony really being the core of the story. I also am mildly interested in a Dr. Doom Reed Richards who has lost all of his friends and family. Plus it begs the question, where's this universe's Victor? All stuff I hope to see explored in the new Ultimates line that was sorta unceremoniously announced on Twitter through a free comic book day anouncment

  9. Crushed is the wrong word.
Ultimate spider man, in its one issue, took the amazing spiderman run by wells and some parts of Slott, beat it up, broke every bone in its body, ripped off its intestines, buried it in a coffin and then peed all over its grave.

  10. I was watching Rob from Comicsexplained and he liked the ultimate universe set up(so did I). Lot's of 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq war and even what going on now with the media manipulating the news to hide genocide metaphors going on.

Didn't feel pretentious at all, most of Hickman's work is like that. I wonder if Sal didn't like it cause of the 9/11, Iraq/Afghanistan, whole eastern oppression metaphors? Personally I found it to be dope and interesting, and can't wait to see this overall story, am I the only one or did others like it too?

  11. I’m guessing it’s no coincidence that 6160 Peter is the age 1610 Peter would have been if he’d aged in real time.

USM spoke to elder millennials in the early 00’s, and he’s speaking to us again. Unfortunately the message has changed 😢

Loved the book. Can’t wait for more.

  12. I think I’m at that point in my life where I just don’t have the patience for chronically neurotic main characters anymore. Which is a bit of hole I put myself in considering the current comic landscape, but I maintain nonetheless.

  13. On Ultimate Peter, I think what we're seeing that Peter Parker is feeling a unique depression– he's built a life he's proud of but there's still something missing and it's like he's guilty for not actually feeling happy and satisfied. Very interesting, if that's the way Hickman plays it.

He's also a Peter who never really have to step up and be fully independent, so while he had his hardships (losing his parents at 15, Aunt may), he still had a pretty solid group around him. Unlike 616 Peter who kinda had to learn to be independent and sorta isolated and self-reliant while he was relatively young

  14. I liked the world that was set up in the new ultimate, but I really didn’t like that Tony gave Peter his powers. I wish Peter would have gotten his powers in a somewhat traditional manner, just 20 years later than it was supposed to happen, a way to have the universe say Peter will be Spider-Man, even if the maker stopped it from happening originally, it will happen one way or another. I guess there is an aspect to it being a choice and now u have to deal with the consequences, I just find one hero giving another powers very uninteresting.

  15. I loved Issue 1 of Ultimate Spider-Man and now I’m hooked! I’ll agree to some extent that I’m not that interested what everyone else is doing in this universe but there is such sense of “what this new and strange place”. Ultimate invasion and Universe are okay, but good set ups to THIS great book. I’m all in on Spider-Man of this universe cause he’s the Spider-Man I’ve wanted to see for a while, and I’m excited to see where this goes.

  16. Speaking of Spider-Man I really wish Marvel would get their heads out of their asses and release a Black Costume Saga Omnibus for Spider-Man already. I know they did those epic collection books for the Alien Costume Saga but they fell off the wagon prematurely and left out a lot of the later material from Web of, Amazing and Spectacular series. Even if you include the supplementary material featured in the Epic collections of Sins of the Past, Kraven’s Last Hunt and Venom. I feel like we could have gotten another 3-4 volumes out of that run easily. But an omnibus that covers everything from that 4 year period would certainly take care of that
