  1. Much like many things fashion has a 20 year cycle

skinny jeans did become a bit corny because things like big dad shoes got in the forefront

I dont think skinny jeans are back yet but a nice slim fit flared is gonna take over or even regular slim fit

skinny is still a bit corny imo

  2. I disagree with the skinny jean prediction. The people saying this are treating the baggy bottoms trend like it came out of nowhere, but there was a lead up. Relaxed top silhouettes came into the picture, oversized tees, hoodies, jackets, etc. When this happened people were still very much wearing joggers & skinny jeans. What drove the baggy bottoms wave & started to make it “saturated” outside of the fashion community was comfort, the same thing that drove relaxed top silhouettes. Going back to wearing a fitted silhouette after being comfy a n d fashionable for years now? I don’t see it happening.

  3. I'm not an avid viewer of yours, Drew, but I just love watching you from time to time to 'relax', if you will. Watching you talk just reminds me of Bob Ross so much, in the sense that I think, "Yeah, it's impossible for this guy to shout". Also, I take your content to heart, such as the 'How to Grow Up Your Style' video.

Also, your fits are just cool to look at. Got me over here taking notes and helping me find my own style. As a 14 year-old boy, you and Frugal Aesthetic are the two people I find the most enjoyable to watch : You give deep, genuine and fair dives on topics in the fashion world, a lot of topics being trends that I'm unfamiliar with due to my lack of tuning in with social media, and Frugal is just funny.

Sorry for making this drag out, but long story short, thank you. 🙂

  4. I recently discovered your channel and I find it very insightful! Not sure if I overlooked this topic in your previous videos, but I was hoping to request a video about athletic wear. I'm an athlete/dancer who doesn't care for leggings lol and I'd love to be/feel more stylish in the studio. Thank you & happy new year!!

  5. Skinny jeans died in the majority of America but are still fashion staples in NYC, Atlanta, and LA, arguably the most fashionable cities in the USA. While the vast majority of the population has strayed away from skinny jeans, how does that explain the more recent (or continued) success of Amiri or Purple Brand? Underground communities such as NY Drillers have kept skinny jeans alive and even as a source of envy considering the fashionability and the accompanying price tag.

  6. You live in New York now so if you spend a weekend night out in the lower east side (Kind Regards, Pianos, etc), you'll see the "swag era" re-done in a very nostalgic, fashionable and trendy way. Not for everyone, but it kinda can mix with some of the opium core looks. 2000's goth meets 2000's oversized t-shirts, jorts, etc.

  7. In all respect tho, your opinion isn´t "slightly" influenced by your geography. It very, very heavily influences everyone´s view. Social media sometimes gives us the impression that we´re aware of how people all across the world are dressing themselves but we truly have little clue about the contextual factors that influence people´s day to day dressing across the world.

  8. I think that the pandemic divided people further when it comes to fashion – the people that are intentional vs the people who dress for function. Some people followed the ever-evolving trends while others held onto what they felt comfortable in which was pre-pandemic. I’m in my mid-twenties and I still have some friends that wanted to hold onto their old skinny jeans for dear life, while others like myself, got rid of them during the pandemic

  9. It feels contradictory to talk about putting an emphasis on personal style, and then talk about being ignorant to fashion if you're still wearing skinny jeans. I think there are a lot of subcultures that never let go of skinny jeans, but I'm punk and will probably wear skinny jeans forever. I kind of don't care if that dates me as a millennial, but part of my self expression through fashion is the music I listen to

  10. I don’t think skinny jeans died I think they just sort of slowed down in popularity because of wider fitting pants. I think if a fashion item is dying it means most people you see are not going to be wearing them but I feel like even on TikTok or even out in public I see a lot of people wearing skinny jeans.

  11. As a clothing seller, I can't tell you trends beyond what people are buying. Grungy distressed workwear, vintage graphic tees, 80s and 90s sports related, Preppy Golf wear, and hoodies. I sell everything, and that's what moves.

  12. You have to understand that it wasn't just about skinny jeans when they became popular in the mid to late 2000s, it was the whole aesthetic catapulted into the spotlight mainly by Hedi Slimane at Dior Homme, and this filtered down to the magazines at the time and the promotion of indie bands. Indie music was huge at this point – Kasabian, Jet, the Rapture, Interpol, the Strokes etc etc. Even Justin Timberlake's music vids at this time, sexy back for example featured a slim fitting Dior suit, and the subsequent videos were all indie fashion inspired. Skinny black ties for an office job, with tight fitting pants and a waistcoat were commonplace in 2007. My point is that at this moment in time, there is none of that wider cultural movement stemming from indie based music. If anything, as has done for many years now, RnB and dance music dominates. Unless indie music widely comes back, neither will the ultra slim shilloette.

  13. Skinny jeans will comeback because of a statement footwear, specifically boots. And due to the minimalist trend, knee high boots will become an outfit staple..so I guess skinny jeans will comeback yall😢

  14. Skinny jeans didn't die necessarily. There is just more variety. It's kinda like, we started with Iron Man and eventually got the Avengers and even Gaurdians of the Galaxy, right? But, I haven't seen the End Game snap from skinny jeans quite yet. Maybe online. But, not real world.
