Ajax’s third shirt for the 2021/22 season was a homage to Bob Marley and his anthem that is sung before every game at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

The shirt features three little birds above the three Andreas crosses, just below the collar. UEFA have made them remove that part of the kit.

But why?

And why do Ajax have such a connection with Bob Marley?

  1. UEFA and FIFA have to be two of the most infuriating organisations in sports. If this kit in it's original form managed to put money in their pocket somehow you can guarantee it wouldn't be banned. Maybe they should focus on actual problem areas of football like officiating, corruption, sportswashing and racism.

  2. imagine being the sad sad people that enforced this rule in this situation, next time it rains on them I hope they realise it's Bob pissing on them from a place they'll never visit.
