Nike CEO Mark Parker said the team’s jersey is the highest-selling soccer jersey, men’s or women’s, ever sold on the website in one season. “It’s hard to overstate how important this year has been to the evolution of the women’s offense at Nike,” president and CEO Matt Parker said on the earnings call according to ESPN. “The business grew double digits in fiscal ’19, accelerating in the back half of the year. Our momentum in women’s [sports] is a great example of how our renewed focus is really moving the needle through thoughtful design, powerful brand messages and digitally-led distribution.” The jerseys, starting for $90 in stores and online, aren’t the only reason that business is going up for Nike. Parker said the exposure of the team is driving sell in kits and high performance bras. In addition, nearly two-thirds of the teams in the Women’s World Cup are wearing Nike uniforms, which is helping their business.
