ULTIMATE LEAGUE SOCCER – AV SOCCER – FUTEBOL Milmar NES / FAMICOM – All Cover Arts (English Audio)

Hi, retro gamer! In this video I will talk about the cover arts of the unlicensed game Ultimate League Soccer.

Ultimate League Soccer is a soccer game developed by Taiwanese developer C&E. Apart from the United States and Taiwan, it was also published in Australia by Home Entertainment Suppliers and in Brazil by Milmar (under the name ‘Futebol’). A version with pornographic content added was published in Japan by Hacker International.

Let’s analyze the covers of the versions released around the world.

First the American Video Entertainment version released in the United States. This is a product not licensed by Nintendo and manufactured independently. That’s why we don’t see the Nintendo Seal of Quality present on this cartridge and cover.

The cover is beautiful, I like the art. This company’s cartridge design is also very beautiful and highlights the art.
A great collector’s item.

This game also has a European version, since we can find the rom for this region here on the internet. But I didn’t find any clue of who distributes it in Europe and consequently I didn’t find anything about the respective cover of this game. If you have any information, please leave it in the comments of this video.

The next cover is of the Australian version manufactured by the company HES (Home Entertainment Suppliers). I found this art pretty ugly with these players in this boring pose and the giant ball behind with the logo. Depressing.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find any image of the cartridge design manufactured by HES.

Now the 2 Pack Special: Soccer + Super Sprint, also released in Australia and distributed by this Magexa. Does HES have any connection with this pack?

In this case we see the name of the game reduced to just Soccer, in a boring and improvised art, sharing space with the original cover art of Tengen’s Super Sprint. Opening the case we have two cartridges, in which Soccer doesn’t even have an art. No comments.

The next cover is by Hacker International from Japan. The most different version of this game, in which the international teams already have the shirt colors defined in the game, we don’t have to choose, and the music that plays during the match has been modified, I even found the music a little better, it gives more emotion to the match.

With each match won, the image of a half-naked girl is shown as a reward, and when the world cup is won, a girl completely without clothes.
Analyzing the cover, we see an allusion to the game’s theme, with photos of 3 beautiful girls highlighted and a strange photo of a soccer player falling in the background without color. The models stand out more than the image of the players, and you can only tell that you are buying a football game because the word SOCCER appears very large in red on the logo. On the 60-pin famicom cartridge, we only see the logo too.

I thought the composition of the cover art is harmonious, but it doesn’t look like a cover from a video game, it looks more like a cover from an adult film VHS tape. Difficult to say my opinion, I found it different.

And finally, the Brazilian version of Milmar. This was remarkable, because when Milmar launched this game here in Brazil, they invested in ads on video game magazines that caught the attention of children and teenagers at the time, I was curious to know a game with options in my language and that I could choose national teams like São Paulo Soccer Club, Corinthians, Santos, Flamengo, etc…

Remembering that, in addition to releasing unlicensed Nintendo titles in Brazil, Milmar was the manufacturer of the famiclone console named Hi-Top Game.

I thought that Milmar had developed this game entirely in Brazil, but when I rented the game I was slightly suspicious. I thought it was strange after choosing the team, the message «please choose the color of the shirt» appeared. This bothered me, because if I choose Palmeiras, automatically the players should already be wearing green, the possibility of being able to choose red is ridiculous.

But it was enough to play during the weekend at the time, in addition to being a smart move by Milmar to adapt a game for the public here in Brazil, just as Tec Toy did with some Sega games.

As for the cover art, it is a simple, average, but harmonious and functional art that highlights the theme of the game well. The design of Milmar’s cartridges is beautiful, they are a pleasure to collect. Congratulations to collectors who have items like this in their collection.

And here ends the series of covers of the game Ultimate League Soccer, known here in Brazil as Futebol or Futebol Milmar.
